We had an awful experience on the flight to Guangzhou. Due to bad weather we ended up landing in another city 12 hours away from Guangzhou. I was ok about as I had had to do this before when I was here adopting Mathew. But then we stayed on the plane and continued eventually to Guangzhou. No, not this time. We unload. We got to the terminal "For a rest." There is a Chinese man who is yelling so loud the whole building can hear him. He is wealthy and is telling them it is costing him money and he will pay whatever he needs to to get to Guangzhou that night. Well... you can't pay off God and he is the one in control of the weather. So eventually this man's yelling ends up with us all back on the plane. This would have been great if we had actually gone somewhere. They put us back on there to appease the yelling man. The good that did come from it, yes, God watching over us, was a young man named Jim. He could speak a bit of English. Enough to let us know what was going on so that when we had to get off the plan again at about 11pm... (8hrs on the plane with one short break) we knew we were headed to a hotel for the night. That was miserable as we got there and checked in and got to the room well after midnight. Then got the wake up call at 5:15am. Of course I had been so worried about being left behind that I had been up for 15 minutes by the time we got the call. Now, mind you, our baggage is still on the plane. We have nothing. Not a brush. No hairspray. Nothing but the computer, adoption paperwork and kids stuff and some dried food goods that the airline gave us. So we make our way down stairs and I look awful. I have been hot since I got on the plane at 3:20pm the day before. My blown dry hair is a mess of curls and parts that shouldn't be there. I was thanking God that no one would see me looking like that. We made it on the bus and Jim was there to make sure we had. Also a very nice man from Singapore. Anyway, we did get to board the plane at 8am and were on our way for what they called a 20 minute flight. I was never so glad to be in a moving airplane in all my life. LOL
The guy, Jim, let us know that if we got to Guangzhou and our guide wasn't there that he would take us to the Garden Hotel. I really wish I had gotten a picture of him. (Later realized I did and it is below)I don't think I did. But I will be looking. I tried to take pictures all day today to document the day. I will post those pictures tomorrow and will only post the photos having to do with the trip from hades. I wrote this post as a response to an email from my sister entitled "Where are you?" My answer...
"We are here!!" :o)*
